Follow Daphne's journey as she moves to her grandmother's beach house on Emerald Isle, NC after catching her live-in boyfriend cheating. She quickly finds her childhood nemesis is taking care of his grandfather next door. Doug and her brother used to tease, make fun of her, and pulled her blonde pigtails. But now he's all grown up and not at all what she remembers.
Daphne comes to depend on Doug for help with the house and she helps with his grandfather, who suffers from Alzheimer's. 
Daphne has a wedding to go to, and Doug ends up being Daphne's date. They have to pretend to be a couple because Daphne's ex will be there. Daphne and Doug become even closer as time goes by.
